Remote Desktop (VNC)

To see and operate the desktop of a Raspberry Pi without a monitor from a PC, use VNC. Current Raspberry Pi OS includes a VNC server (WayVNC), which must be enabled before use.

Enabling the VNC Server

From the terminal: Run sudo raspi-config, choose Yes under Interface Options > VNC, and exit with Esc.
From the desktop: Turn on VNC under Preferences > Control Centre > Interfaces and click OK.

Connecting from a PC

Install a VNC client on the PC.The official Raspberry Pi documentation describes TigerVNC.
Enter the Raspberry Pi's IP address or hostname as the VNC server and connect.The PC and the Raspberry Pi must be on the same network.
If a certificate warning appears, continue.
Enter the Raspberry Pi's login account and password; the desktop appears.

Note The VNC configuration is in /etc/wayvnc/. For unattended operation of features that draw to a screen, also set up automatic login (Automatic Login).
