Starting and Stopping

The Status row at the top of Settings starts and stops recording and analysis together. The button cannot be pressed while no device is connected or while it is starting or stopping.

Caution While stopped, nothing is recorded and no alerts fire. A manual stop is remembered only by the browser or phone where it was made, so the device does not restart on its own from there; click Start to resume. Opening Spot in another browser or on another phone may start the device again automatically.

When Saving Settings

Changes made on the Settings tab, to cameras, and to alerts collect in the You have unsaved changes bar at the bottom of the screen. They persist when you switch tabs, and Cancel discards every unsaved change. On the Indexing and Storage screens, the bar appears once you return to the settings list.
When Save is clicked while the device is running and the change needs a restart, the Restart device dialog appears. Apply stops and restarts the device, and detection and recording pause briefly.
When only alert switches changed, the change applies immediately without a restart.
Settings saved while stopped take effect when the device starts again.

Caution If Settings were saved, but some changes were not applied. Please save again. is displayed, save again. Until then, the settings shown on screen and the device's actual behavior do not match.
