Opening the Local Screen
Before you begin, make sure the device is on and your PC or phone is on the same network (the same router or Wi-Fi) as the device.
On the PC where Spot is installed
| Operating system | How to open |
|---|---|
| Windows | Open Grablo Spot from the Start menu, or double-click its desktop shortcut. You can also right-click the Grablo icon in the notification area and click Open Grablo Spot. |
| macOS | Click the Grablo icon in the menu bar, then click Open Grablo Spot. You can also open Grablo Spot from the Applications folder. |
| Linux, Raspberry Pi | Open http://localhost:8127 in a browser on the device. The installer also prints the local screen address in the terminal when it finishes. |
On another PC or a phone
-
Find the device's IP address.
On Windows, open Command Prompt, run
ipconfig, and look for IPv4 Address. On macOS, go to System Settings > Network and open the details of the connected network. On Linux and Raspberry Pi, use the address printed when installation finished, or runhostname -I. You can also find it on your router's admin page. -
On a PC or phone on the same network, open a browser and go to
http://<IP address>:8127. For example,http://192.168.0.10:8127
Note
On Windows, if a Windows Security Alert appears the first time Spot runs, click Allow access. If you don't, the local screen opens only on that PC, not on other devices.
If you run Spot as a Home Assistant add-on or in Docker, use the IP address of the machine running Home Assistant or Docker.
About the address and connection
- The local screen uses HTTP, not HTTPS, so the browser shows Not secure in the address bar. This is expected.
- The local screen connects to the device directly over your network, so it never uses the relay server.
- You can open the local screen only by the device's IP address or hostname, not through any other domain name.
