Animal recognition

With animal recognition on, Spot detects and records 10 kinds of animals (bird, cat, dog, horse, sheep, cow, elephant, bear, zebra, giraffe) and creates animal cards. It is off by default and is available with device software 2.2.0 or later.

1. On the Settings tab, click Animal recognition.
2. Turn on the switch at the top, then choose Detection accuracy and Threshold.
3. Click Save at the bottom of the screen.

• Recording: Cameras set to When detected also record while an animal is detected.
• Actions: Animal detected, Selected animal detected, and Animal matching a description detected become available as conditions (see Creating an Action).
• Animal cards: In History > Cards, select Animals. Each appearance of an animal becomes one card, and cards of the same animal are not merged automatically. To merge them, select the cards and click Merge. If a card includes a different animal, select that tile and click Not this animal.
• Search: Type a description such as black cat in the search row above the animal cards, or click an animal on the paused timeline to find similar animals.
• Distant or small animals may not be detected. The minimum size for cards and search is set with Minimum animal size in Indexing Settings.
